La Cumbre Coffee is a family-owned coffee business. Our high-quality coffee beans are grown and roasted in Costa Rica, and distributed in Louisville, Kentucky.
We're new to the game, having just opened in January of 2011. Our online store opened for business in July of 2011.
The name "La Cumbre" when translated to English means "the summit." We chose the name because of its meaning. The summit signifies the highest attainable level of achievement. And, it also indicates the highest point of a hill or mountain. Both of which are relevant to us.
To grow high-quality coffee trees, there are a few requirements. Coffee beans must be grown at high altitudes. In Costa Rica, volcanic soils, mountainous terrain and distinct wet and dry seasons provide ideal conditions for coffee growing. La Cumbre Coffee is grown in Santa Maria de Dota, Costa Rica, which has an altitude of approximately 6,000 ft. Coffee produced at this height is usually denser and more flavorful.
We also believe in pursuing the highest level of achievement. In order for La Cumbre to be successful, we have to work hard, provide excellent customer service, and deliver better coffee than the competition.
